Flash Thompson as the Redback Spider in MarvelNewDawn by Burningbird

After high-school the young Flash Thompson wanted to do sth like his big idol Spiderman and wished to become a hero. Not gifted with superhero powers he thought the best way to protect his fellow citizens was to go to Iraq. Five years in service Norman Osborn became director of S.h.i.e.l.d. after he uncovered that the recent director - Tony Stark - was a skrull. In next to no time Norman overtook the military control of the United States, initiated the Superhuman Registration Act (SHRA) and used a putsch to become president of the United States. Now a second-leutnant Flash and his platton decided to go rogue and joined the Escalade of the US. In a fight against one of Normans so called Dark Avengers Flash lost both his legs. McGargan aka Venom ripped them of moments before Flash shoot him dead. The Symbionte decided that who ever killed his host was a worthy new host - and somehow he seemed to feel the connection between Flash and Peter. The Symbionte gave Flash the powers he desired for so long and helped him to save his platoon and to turn the tide. It was Flashs deep will and the gratefullness to finaly be able to serve his country like he always wanted, that kept the symbiont at bay. The battle was won but the war was far from over when Flash felt into a coma. The symbiont was taken away from him and he was taken care of by the UN-troops.
After the escalade when everything seemed to be normal again, Flash visited his old friend Peter and shocked him with the sight of his wheelchair. When he told how he was connected to the venom symbiont Peter helped him to become the host of Venom again. Torn apart by the things he did in Iraq and giving in to the symbiont too much from time to time, Flash turned to the bottle. His alcoholism made it easy for the symbiont to control him and he wreaked havoc across NY. Flash and Venom were once again seperated. This led Flash to an even deeper depression - without his legs and powers he felt useless. He broke into the holding vault of the Venom symbiont and planned to kill it and himself with a bomb. Instead he was saved by the symbiont. Peter Parker and Tony Stark decided that Flash and Venom seemed to belong to each other so they constructed a suit based on the Iron-Spider armour. Based on the method that was used to create Team Mercury - they linked Venom with the suit instead of Flash. That way the symbiont could be controled more easily and had some sort of fail-save switch.
Now Flash serves a covert-ops and sometimes black-ops agent for the Special Activities Division (SAD) under his new nickname Redback.
