Born to a sexual assaulted woman who died shortly after his birth, Peter Quill was raised by his grandfather until he died of old age. Only twelve years old, Peter was raised in diffrent foster homes until one fatefull night he was abducted by aliens. He soon learned that his biological father, the rapist of his mother, was not from earth but a famous space-aristocrat and his kidnappers tried to blackmail him. After they failed in doing so, Peter became a part of the crew first working as a cabin boy and slowly working his way up to a full member of the space thugs.
After several years he was on a one man mission and came into conflict with Gamora with whom he felt deeply in love. He confinced her not to kill her - the entity called Collector had a bounty on his head - and she took him to the Collectors base called Knowhere. No choice but to work for the Collector from now on, Peter got to know his pet-bodyguard Rocket and after some missions they run into the flora colossus named Groot. After their final mission for the Collector - that might have saved the Galaxy from annihilation - they formed the Guardians of the Galaxy.
Later they crashed into their counterpart from a distant future and combined their teams into the Galaxy Guard.
